Strange looking beetle thingy?

i was sorting lumber i came across an odd looking little fellow. he was about an 2" long and was a grey mossy colour. he had wide flat feet and the most peculiar thing about him was that his antennae were about the same length as his body. long and curved, sort of a sickle shape. at first i thought he was a longhorn beetle but then i thought that maybe they don't live around here. i live in southern Ontario. i cant provide a picture as i did not have it handy at the moment. so my question is: what kind of beetle is it and are they dangerous to lumber.
